To mark National Tree Day 2020, President Higgins received members of the ‘Easy Treesie’ project and Crann at Áras an Uachtaráin.
President Higgins is Patron of Crann – Trees for Ireland. The organisation’s “Easy Treesie” project aims to encourage Ireland’s school children to plant a million trees, as part of the UNESCO-backed world trillion tree project, “Plant-for-the-Planet”.
To date, Crann – Trees for Ireland, working with Science Foundation Ireland and Coillte, has helped to plant 100,000 native saplings all over the country.
