President Higgins attended the annual RTÉ Folk Awards in Vicar Street, Dublin.
The event celebrates the significant contribution that folk musicians and bands have made to Irish culture. Hosted by RTÉ's John Creedon; the event is open to the public and will feature live performances from Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, Niamh Bury, Bláth na hÓige, Johnny McEvoy, Rhiannon Giddens and more.
In 2020, President Higgins recorded a special video message for the awards when they were held in the RTÉ Radio studios due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
