President Michael D. Higgins received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Mr Lee Nak-yeon.
This was the first high level visit from Korea in over five years, and the first time since 1990 that a Korean Prime Minister had visited Ireland.
The President and the Prime Minister used the opportunity to reaffirm the long and abiding bonds shared by the people of Ireland and Korea, and discussed a wide range of issues relating to the bilateral relations between Ireland and Korea, Irish connections in Korean history, recent developments on the Korean Peninsula, and global issues including climate change.
