President and Sabina host reception to mark International Women’s Day

Speech marking International Women’s Day 2017

President Michael D Higgins hosted a reception to celebrate International Women’s Day at Áras an Uachtaráin.

The reception aimed to encourage and highlight the work of activists, campaigners, volunteers and staff of organisations working to combat domestic and sexual violence and that play an important role in empowering women to live dignified and meaningful lives, free from terror and abuse.
