Ambassadors present their credentials

Her Excellency, Ms. Claire D. Cronin, Ambassador of the United States of America, His Excellency, Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh, Ambassador of Sierra Leone, and Her Excellency, Mrs. Vanessa Eugenia Interiano Elfarnawany, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador presented their Letters of Credence to President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Ms. Claire D. Cronin, Ambassador of the United States of America, was accompanied by her husband, Mr. Ray Cronin, daughters Kara Cronin and Kerry Cronin, and Mrs. Alexandra K McKnight, Deputy Chief of Mission.

H.E. Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh, Ambassador of Sierra Leone, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Marie Aliena Manyeh and Mrs Agnes S. During, First Secretary.

H.E. Mrs. Vanessa Eugenia Interiano Elfarnawany, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador, was accompanied by Ms. Gabriela Ramírez Lazo, Minister-Counsellor.

Mr. Simon Coveney, T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Ms. Orla O’Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Joe Hackett, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Col Stephen Howard, Comdt Brian Walsh and Capt Chris McGuigan, Aides-de-Camp to the President; Mr. Gerald Angley, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Marylee Wall, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Maurice Harnett.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 27th Infantry Battalion, Aiken Barracks, Co. Louth, under the command of Lieutenant David Murray.

Captain John Carpenter conducted the Band of the 2nd Brigade, Custume Barracks, Athlone.

Lieutenant Ronan O’Neill, from the 27th Infantry Battalion, Aiken Barracks, Co. Louth, was the flag officer.
