New Ambassadors present their Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of Japan, Finland and Brunei Darussalam presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mrs. Mari Miyoshi, Ambassador of Japan, was accompanied by Mr. Kojiro Uchiyama, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Ms. Jaana Teckenberg, Ambassador of Finland, was accompanied by Ms. Kaisa Leidy, Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Dato Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Dato Haji Abidin, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam, was accompanied by his wife, Datin Nurhayana Janis Binti Abdullah Lim, and by Mr. Mardani Dato Haji Mohammad, Third Secretary at the Embassy.

Ms. Ann Phelan, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of the Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present:  Mr. Conor Ó Raghallaigh, Deputy Secretary-General to the President, Mr. Eamonn McKee, Assistant Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Síle Maguire, Chief of Protocol;  Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Claire Buckley, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Second Lieutenant Michael Conneely.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 28th Infantry Battalion, Finner Camp, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, under the command of Lieutenant Barry Dolan. 

Captain Fergal Carroll conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks.
