Statement on the passing of Alan Parker

There will be so many in the world of film who will be saddened by the passing of Alan Parker but who will always retain a deep appreciation for the authenticity he brought to film and his incredible encouragement for those who worked in his films.
For those in Ireland who appreciate the art form of film, he will forever be remembered. The Commitments and Angela's Ashes were just part of a rich contribution that included such iconic films such as Midnight Express and Mississippi Burning. The warmth of the feeling being expressed by those who worked with Alan Parker in his different projects is such a tribute to him. He brought a deep humanity to all of his work, a humanity that he transmitted to others.
