“It is with great sadness that I have heard of the passing of Micheál Ó Nualláin, artist, art teacher and education inspector.
His contribution and commitment to education, art and design lasted throughout his whole life. He had a sustained commitment to the public world and, within it, the role of art.
Often mentioned because of his connection to his brother Brian O’Nolan/Myles na gCopaleen, Micheál Ó Nualláin, in his own right, made a significant contribution to the arts in Ireland. Many of his cartoons and illustrations became collectors items.
He will be fondly missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing or corresponding with him.
Sabina and I would like to extend our sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.”
