“It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the death of Michael Corcoran, who as part of a life dedicated to soccer and its family and community connections, served as President of the FAI from 2001 to 2005.
He had a great love of the League of Ireland, and of Waterford with its proud football tradition in particular.
Sabina and I would like to extend our sympathy to his wife Marie, sons Alan and Evan, as well as to his wider circle of family, friends and colleagues.
His warm personality means that he will be missed not only by soccer supporters but by all those who support sport in Ireland.”
