Statement by President Higgins on the attack on the Iranian Parliament

President Michael D. Higgins has sent a message to the President of Iran, His Excellency Hassan Rouhani, expressing his sympathy with those who have lost their lives in the recent attacks on the Iranian Parliament.
An attack on Parliament must be unequivocally condemned by all those who believe in public discourse and the rights of Parliament to improve the lives of citizens through peaceful, democratic means, not violence.
