President to deliver Aristotle Address in Athens

The President of the Hellenic Republic, H.E. Prokopios Pavlopoulos has invited President Michael D. Higgins to deliver the 2019 Aristotle Address in Athens.

On 10 October, President Higgins will deliver the Aristotle Address at the city’s Stoa of Attalos, in the ancient Agora of Athens.

The Aristotle Address, which has previously been given by the President of Greece and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, is the highlight of the annual Athens Democracy Forum, hosted under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, and organised in cooperation with the New York Times, the United Nations and the City of Athens.  

During his visit to Greece, President Higgins will also attend the annual meeting of the Arraiolos group, a grouping of 13 Presidents of EU member states, taking place in Athens 10-11 October.

The purpose of the Arraiolos meeting will be for the 13 Heads of State to reflect on European integration and to consider how best to implement the fundamental European principle of solidarity.
