President Michael D. Higgins conveys condolences to earthquake victims

President Michael D. Higgins has today, 24 August 2016, sent his condolences to H.E. Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy.
In the letter President Higgins offered his condolences, on behalf of the people of Ireland, on the tragic loss of life that has occurred following the earthquake in Umbria.
The President also recalled earlier earthquakes to strike Italy, including the 2009 quake at L’Aquila in 2009.
