President meets with HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand

President Michael D. Higgins met with HRH Princess of Thailand, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, at Áras an Uachtaráin today. Noting the appointment of Ireland’s first resident ambassador to Thailand, they discussed the warm relations between the two countries.
They also had a wide-ranging discussion on a number of issues of mutual and personal interest, which included sustainable economics, science, culture and technology.
The President’s ongoing Ethics Initiative emerged in discussions on needs and wants in society, recalling his last visit to Thailand in 1997 where he saw at first-hand the difficulties associated with economic speculation.
