President Higgins to address the International Labour Organisation

President Michael D. Higgins has accepted an invitation to attend the 107th Session of the International Labour Conference at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) “World of Work” Summit at the United Nations in Geneva on Thursday, 7th June 2018. 

President Higgins will deliver a keynote address at the United Nations’ European headquarters in Geneva. 

Along with President of the Central African Republic, H.E. Mr. Touadera, President Higgins will participate in a High-Level Panel discussion at the “World of Work” summit in the Assembly Hall of the Palais des Nations.

The President’s address will be followed by a series of high level meetings with representatives of the ILO as well as with Mr. Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross. 

On Friday 8 June, President Higgins will travel to Zurich to visit the James Joyce Foundation, and to pay his respects at the author's grave in Fluntern Cemetery. In the evening, President Higgins will meet members of the Irish community living in Zurich.
