President and Sabina to host reception for International Women's Day

On Thursday 8 March, President and Sabina Higgins will host a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin, in celebration of International Women’s Day.
This year, the President will mark the centenary of the partial recognition of women’s right to vote in Great Britain and Ireland. Groups celebrating and advocating on women’s full participation in political life will be attending.
In his address, the President will pay tribute to the suffragette movement, all those women and men who campaigned courageously for women’s voting rights, as well as to those who continue to advocate for greater representation of women in all aspects of Irish society.
