Following his visit to the James Joyce Foundation in Zurich, President Higgins laid white roses on the Joyce family grave in the Fluntern cemetery in the city.
The President thanked the city of Zurich for maintaining the grave “today and all the days since the 1940s”.
The Zurich James Joyce Foundation was established in 1985 with a view to keeping alive the memory and work of the writer James Joyce, who lived in the city, and died there on 13 January 1941.
