President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins and Sabina Higgins hosted a reception for arts organisations Children’s Books Ireland and Poetry Ireland.
The event marked twenty years of Children’s Books Ireland and forty years of the 'Writers in Schools' scheme.
In honour of President Higgins’ long-standing commitment to art in the lives of children and young people, CBI's director Elaina Ryan and Poetry Ireland director Maureen Kennelly presented the President with a selection of Irish children’s books.
