President Michael D. Higgins officially opened a photographic exhibition entitled "The Potato Farmers of East Africa", at Dublin Airport.
The exhibition and the accompanying booklet are by Charles Handy, the world renowned Irish business and management guru, and his wife, the photographer Elizabeth Handy.
The exhibition highlighted the work of the Irish Potato Coalition set up by Vita, an Irish NGO fighting against hunger and climate change in Africa. Members of the coalition include Teagasc, Irish Potato Marketing, the Irish Potato Federation, Gorta / SHA, local farmers groups and women's groups, and the Ethiopian Government.
