President Connolly will host a lunch for the Governor-General of Australia, H.E. Ms. Sam Mostyn in Áras an Uachtaráin.
The Governor-General of Australia is His Majesty The King Charles III’s representative. Ms Sam Mostyn AC was sworn in as Australia’s 28th Governor-General on 1 July 2024.
2026 marks 80 years of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Australia. In October 2017, President Michael D. Higgins undertook a State Visit to Australia, the first such visit by an Irish head of state since 1998.
