September 5th marks the release of the President Higgins’ debut spoken word album, Against All Certainty with music from celebrated musician, Myles O’Reilly on Claddagh Records. This brand-new spoken word collection sets the poet’s most renowned work to a stunning musical composition by Myles O’Reilly. Michael D. Higgins has published four collections of poetry — The Betrayal; The Season of Fire; An Arid Season; and New and Selected Poems. This album, recorded in Áras an Uachtaráin, is his first recorded project in the spoken word.
The celebratory evening will see the President’s poems at the heart of the concert, read by poet Paula Meehan, novelist Sebastian Barry, rapper God Knows, singer and poet Imelda May, broadcaster Ryan Tubridy, icon Panti Bliss, performer Olwen Fouéré accompanied by Myles O’Reilly and National Symphony Orchestra Ireland.
The evening will also feature music from some of Ireland’s best loved performers Imelda May, Martin Hayes, Paul Brady, Mary Coughlan, Andy Irvine, Myles O’Reilly and Ronan Ó Snodaigh and new voices such as Niamh Bury, Muireann Bradley, Brían Mac Gloinn and Seán Boylan.
