Their Excellencies, the Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
- H.E. Mr. Carles Jordana Madero, Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Soraia Valls Pinilla and Mrs. Meritxell Castillo Estrella, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- H.E. Mr. Said T. Jawad, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was accompanied by Mr. Hanif Ahmadzai, Counsellor, Embassy of Afghanistan.
- H.E. Ms. Linda Anne Scott, Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia, was accompanied by Dr. Mekondjo Kaapanda-Girnus, Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of Namibia.
Mr. Paul Kehoe T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Defence represented the Government at the ceremony. The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Brendan Rogers, Deputy Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Emma Madigan, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Marylee Wall, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Second Lieutenant Evan Duggan. A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by 12th Infantry Battalion, Sarsfields Barracks, Limerick, under the command of Lieutenant Daniel Hanley. Captain Tom Kelly conducted the Army No. 2 Band, Custume Barracks, Athlone.
