Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of Mauritius, Venezuela and New Zealand presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
H.E. Mr. Girish Nunkoo, Ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius, was accompanied by Mr. Yaaseen Hansrod, Second Secretary and his wife, Ms. Bibi Qamarara Nunkoo and daughter Anya.
H.E. Rocío Maneiro, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, was accompanied by Mr. Alfonso D’Santiago, Minister Counsellor.
H.E. Sir Jeremiah Mateparae, Ambassador of New Zealand, was accompanied byMr. Ken Ryan, First Secretary and his wife Lady Janine Mateparae.
Mr Joe McHugh T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State with responsibility for Gaeilge, Gaeltacht and the Islands, represented the Government at the ceremony.
The following were also present: Mr. Conor Ó Raghallaigh, Deputy Secretary-General to the President; Col. Michael Kiernan, Aide-de-Camp to the President; Mr. Eoin O’Leary, Assistant Secretary, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Síle Maguire, Mr. Joe Brennan, and Mr. Patrick O’Reilly, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Chris Humphreys.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 7 Infantry Battalion, Cathal Brugha Barracks under the command of Lieutenant Deirdre Fahy.
Captain John Carpenter conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
