Statement from Áras an Uachtaráin - Harry Gleeson

Following decisions taken by the Government at meetings on 31 March and 16 December, 2015, the President has today, on receipt of advice from Government, granted Mr. Harry Gleeson a posthumous pardon in respect of his conviction on 27 February, 1941, which wholly remits the sentence imposed as if he had not been so charged or convicted.
The pardon signed by the President states:
“Now I, Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, on the advice of the Government, pardon the said Harry Gleeson in respect of the said conviction, and wholly remit the sentence imposed as if he had not been so charged or convicted.”
