President Michael D. Higgins has conveyed his congratulations to Irish Paralympians Niamh McCarthy and Orla Barry on their success at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
"I want to congratulate our two Discus medal winners, Niamh McCarthy and Orla Barry on their performances at the Rio Paralympics.
Their success is the result of talent and skill, as well as years of hard work, preparation and sacrifice, and their example will inspire countless young people in Ireland to take up sport to test their own perseverance and abilities."
