Message on the Occasion of the Conclusion of Ramadan

Date: Sun 1st May, 2022 | 14:04

At the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, and with the rising of tonight’s moon, may I send my greetings and best wishes to all Muslims observing Ramadan in Ireland and around the world as you come together in celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

The Muslim population in Ireland numbers over 63,000 people, each of whom makes an invaluable contribution to Irish and global society. May I thank you for the enriching contribution you make across our communities.

Over the past two years as we battled with the Covid-19 pandemic, our resolve as a nation has been tested. As President of Ireland, I take heart from the countless demonstrations of solidarity between people of all backgrounds and their fellow citizens. May I thank the Islamic community in Ireland for its valuable contribution in this regard and send you my best wishes for health, happiness and peace in the year to come.

Eid Mubarak.
