President Higgins honoured the recipients of the Science Foundation Ireland “President of Ireland Young Researcher Award” at a special ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Dr Tomás Ryan and Dr Lydia Lynch from Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Dr Claire McCoy from the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI), Prof John Laffey from the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and Dr Christina Kiel from University College Dublin (UCD) were presented with the prestigious accolade.
The “President of Ireland Young Researcher Award” programme is designed to identify a new generation of research leaders in fields that are critical to Ireland’s economic and social prosperity. The programme aims to mentor and assist top-tier young researchers, funding their research and fostering collaborations with academic and industry organisations.
Awardees are selected on the basis of exceptional accomplishments and creative research projects in science and engineering.
