President Higgins received Chief Rabbi Yoni Wieder, Chief Rabbi of Ireland, to Áras an Uachtaráin on a Courtesy Call.
Chief Rabbi Wieder leads the Dublin Hebrew Congregation in Terenure, and is head of Jewish Studies at Stratford College. He has written extensively on the history and development of Halakha (Jewish law) in the modern era, and has essays published in religious and academic journals. His MA thesis analyses the reception and influence of the famous 19th century halakhic code Mishnah Berurah.
