President Higgins opened Bloom In The Park, Ireland's biggest flower and food festival.
Each year, President Higgins performs the formal opening of the festival.
The President is Patron of the festival, which attracts over 100,000 visitors each year, and he uses the opportunity of his visit to view a large number of show gardens, and to speak to people about the importance of sustainable agriculture and horticulture - principles practiced on a daily basis in the gardens of Áras an Uachtaráin.
