President Michael D Higgins officially opened the new offices of FLAC, the Free Legal Advice Centres.
The President unveiled a ceremonial plaque with FLAC chief executive, Eilis Barry and FLAC chairperson Peter Ward SC and met the organisation’s staff and volunteers.
This was the first in a series of events to mark FLAC’s 50th anniversary.
President Higgins has made inclusion and the achievement of equality one of the core tenets of his Presidency, and welcomes the work of organisations such as FLAC, who have been long standing champions of legal aid and access to justice, and who have also been pivotal in achieving the establishment of a State legal aid system.
