President and Sabina Higgins attended a meeting of the communities of Phibsborough, Cabra and Stoneybatter in Technical University Dublin in Grangegorman for a local look at the challenge of addressing climate change. President Higgins also addressed the event. TASC (the Think-tank for Action on Social Change), who hosted the event, have been working with the community of Phibsborough to deliver a pilot project of The People’s Transition – a model for participative climate action that aims to address community needs and priorities through climate solutions.
The project, which has been running in Phibsborough for the past 8 months with the support of AIB, aims to listen to community voices before developing solutions that can be community owned. Bohemian Football Club also participated in the event and announced the Bohemian Way, a creative collaboration with local artists, poets and musicians that aims to inspire people to engage with the fight against climate change.
