President addresses the Gala Dinner to close the JFK Summer School and plants a tree to commemorate 50th Anniversary of Memorial Park

President Higgins attended the closing event of the 2018 Kennedy Summer School in New Ross, Co. Wexford. 

The President also planted a tree in the Arboretum, to mark the 50th anniversary of the JFK Memorial Park, a 623 acre park dedicated to the memory of US President John F. Kennedy and opened by President Éamon de Valera in 1968.

In 2013, President Higgins marked the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's visit to Ireland, in June 1963. You can watch the special message from President Michael D. Higgins here

In the same year, the President also welcomed Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the former US President, to Áras an Uachtaráin, along with her husband, Edwin Schlossberg, their children Rose, Tatiana and Jack, as well as many other Kennedy family members.
