President Higgins welcomed members of the Irish Seed Savers Association to Áras an Uachtaráin on a courtesy call.
The Irish Seed Savers Association are non-profit organisation maintaining Ireland’s only public seed bank, with over 800 non-commercially available varieties of seed.
In June 2012, President Higgins officially opened the Irish Seed Savers Association’s Leader funded Seed Bank. An important facility for Ireland, in terms of conservation, biodiversity and food security.
