President Higgins was in Ardfert, County Kerry, to unveil a bust of Sir Roger Casement, at the invitation of the Ardfert Development Association.

President gives the opening address at the Irish League of Credit Unions AGM

President and Sabina Higgins attended the AGM of the Irish League of Credit Unions, held on the University of Limerick campus.

In his keynote address President Michael D Higgins spoke of the history and founding values of the credit union movement and how its democratic model of finance places the needs of the people, the aspirations of its members and the requirements of the local community at the heart of financial decision making.

President gives the opening address at the summit entitled “Independence and Interdependence”

"The future of cities is the future of civilisation."

President Higgins today addressed a summit of mayors of US and Irish cities, taking place in Croke Park. He spoke of how, as the world continues to urbanise, the drive to mitigate the effects of climate change must come from cities.
