Áras an Uachtaráin publishes first annual review

Date: Wed 4th Mar, 2020 | 17:19

Áras An Uachtaráin today published a review of the work and scope of the Office of the President of Ireland, covering the first year of the President’s second term in office.

This is the first time such an annual review has been published since the Irish Presidency was established in 1938. In 2018, Áras an Uachtaráin published a review of the activities of the President’s first term, covering the 2011-2018 period.

‘A Year in Review’ published today builds on the commitment made by President Higgins to further enhance transparency and accessibility of information on the work of his office. The review provides an overview of the President’s engagements and activities from the period of the President’s inauguration on 11 November 2018 to 31 December 2019. During that period, 22,307 people visited Áras an Uachtaráin.

Details in the report on the expenditure and financial oversight of the Office of the President show that expenditure in 2019 was under budget, as it has been for each of the years of President Higgins’ first term in office.
