President delivers keynote address on Irish and Colombian Peace Processes

The President delivered a Keynote Address entitled "The making of a peace process - the importance of the Colombian Peace accord, its contribution to process and its regional and global importance"
The visit also included witnessing the signature of Memoranda of Understanding between University College Cork and a number of Colombian higher education institutions, including UNAL itself and meeting with members of the Irish community in Colombia.

President Higgins visited one of the 26 zones where FARC rebels are demobilising, following the peace accords reached in 2016. 
The President travelled to the camp with Colombia’s high commissioner for peace, Sergio Jaramillo.
