President Michael D. Higgins received the President of the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Danny Faure at Áras an Uachtaráin.
President Faure is in Ireland to attend the 'Our Ocean Wealth Summit', an international meeting assessing the impact climate change is having on small island states.
Since his inauguration, President Higgins has made the climate crisis a core theme of his work, using any opportunity to call for greater action to reduce carbon emissions.
In April 2018, President Higgins addressed representatives of small island developing countries, at an event in the American Irish Historical Society in New York. You can watch the President's speech here: https://youtu.be/ZSF2dCaFVMg
