President Higgins welcomed the Director-General of the World Health Organization Dr. Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, to Áras an Uachtaráin on a courtesy call.
Dr. Tedros Ghebreysus, will be visiting Dublin to participate in the 2025 World Conference on Tobacco Control.
Ireland is a member state and an advocate for the World Health Organisation, as the key multilateral entity providing leadership and setting standards for health globally.
President Higgins has met with Dr.Tedros on a number of occasions, most recently in December 2023 when Dr.Tedros was accompanied by Dr. Michael Ryan.
