Ambassadors Present their Credentials

Her Excellency, Ms. Ana Laura Cachaza, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, His Excellency, Dr. Gergely Bánhegyi, Ambassador of Hungary and His Excellency the Most Reverend Luis Mariano Montemayor, Apostolic Nuncio, presented their Letters of Credence to President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

Her Excellency, Ms. Ana Laura Cachaza, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic was accompanied by her children Victoria Rebok and Tomas Rebok and by Mr. Nicolas Vidal, Deputy Head of Mission.

His Excellency, Dr. Gergely Bánhegyi, Ambassador of Hungary was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Perizat Murat-Bánhegyi and Mr Tamás Szilágyi, Deputy Head of Mission.

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Luis Mariano Montemayor, Apostolic Nuncio was accompanied by the Reverend Monsignor Julien Kabóre, Deputy Head of Mission.

Mr. Kieran O’Donnell TD, Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage with special responsibility for Local Government and Planning, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Ms. Orla O’Hanrahan, Secretary General to the President; Mr. Joseph Hackett. Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs; Col Steven Howard, Comdt Brian Walsh, Comdt Deirdre Newell, Capt. Pol O’Donnell. Aides-de-Camp to the President; Mr. Joe Brennan, Ms. Marylee Wall and Ms. Laura Goodwin, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Dillon McAuliffe.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the Air Corps, Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Co. Dublin under the command of Lieutenant Eric Lawless.

Lieutenant Kevin Redmond from the Air Corps was the flag officer.

Captain John Carpenter conducted the Army No 1 Band which is based in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Co. Dublin.
